It started as an experiment to illustrate a photorealistic Gibson Explorer guitar, but with passion and a lot of patience,it became something more. Flatguitars became an illustration tribute to all those inspiring guitar heroes.
Flatguitars is created and designed by David Navaro, an Amsterdam based creative. The coding side of the project was done by Ingamana.
Everything started with the design of a Gibson guitar, that you can see bellow.
The problem with the design was that it would take too much time to create, especially when thinking that David wanted to create numerous guitars. But after a spark of inspiration, a more flat point of view was approached, and the best part of it, they would keep a part of the detail that gives the character of each instrument.
The project was guided by one rule, the illustrated guitars should be signature guitars. This way, David would create a connection between the guitar and its hero, and depending on the color of the guitar, the color scheme would be chosen.
But the main aspect that got my attention was the experience provided by the website. Clean and simple craftsmanship! You get to see the artist, the guitar as the main player and the best part, the fact that you can listen to a song played with that guitar (I have been listening to the Metallica song for some time now, see the Gibson Flying V, number 2).
Created with passion for a passion. Amazing work David and the guys from Ingamana!
Have a look at Flatguitars website and tell me what you think.
Also, not to forget, because the project will be updated every week with a new guitar design, you should stay in touch with the latest updates of this project by following FlatGuitars on twitter.
