The Story of Vans celebrates 50 years in an amazing illustrative campaign, showcasing the brand’s origins in action sports, art, music and fashion.

Vans, The Van Doren Rubber Company, or the checker board deck shoe, inspired by surfing and adopted by skateboarders, is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Vans presents its story through a remarkable visual campaign that highlights special moments in its history. We manage to see and enjoy its creative expression in 5 clips that showcase the brand’s origins in: action sports, art, music and fashion.
Each clip tells the story of how the famous deck shoe managed to touch the heart of different individuals in their communities. With the help of iconic brand ambassadors, the ads get more interesting as it captures the personality of environment through their voice and visual storytelling. Jeff Grosso, Chloe Sevigny, Tony Alva, Chuck D and Ray Barbee are the iconic emblems of their field that humanize the message of this campaign.

And I have to admit, the illustrative storytelling, the “dude voice” and all the metaphors made me wanna watch even more. After seeing this campaign I went even further and looked over other campaigns and it’s interesting.
